Siddha Vedam is a classic of Vedic literature. This book was graciously offered by His Holiness SWAMI SIVANANDA PARAMAHAMSA as a boon to the Seekers of Truth. This Holy Book deals with the Supreme ancient wisdom which was in practice during the periods of Vedic Civilization.
Great Rishis and Saints practised Brahma Vidya and attained Supreme Enlightenment since the earliest Vedic period. As time passed this Vidya disappeared. Then people began to worship idols in the temple. Out of ignorance people started to kill animals and birds to satisfy the deities.
While people were doing the very hard cruel activities, Great Men like Buddha came and established the Right Path to worship God. As centuries passed this path also disappeared. Swamiji discovered this Correct Path by His Herculean effort and named it as SIDDHA VIDYA.
Our Swamiji proclaims, ‘‘Whichever Great Men came in this world, they all said the aforesaid only One Path itself. That Path itself is what We have shown you now. This is the Correct One. This is TRUE.” Swamiji expressed His experiences in the Holy Book the SIDDHA VEDAM (The Moksh Soothram). In the first edition of SIDDHA VEDAM there were only twenty one chapters. Then Swamiji added one more new chapter with many concepts. It was the chapter number twenty two. Thus after thorough verification of the whole book, the second edition of SIDDHA VEDAM was published in the year 1948 by Swamiji Himself. So SIDDHA VEDAM is the authentic VEDAM of His Holiness Swami Sivananda Paramahamsa.
Siddha Vedam explains vividly the origin, evolution and salvation of ‘‘Jeeva”(Life-force). So Siddha Vedam is the real Life History of Jeeva, the self, the vital-force. Swamiji’s order included in this edition proves it.
One feature of this edition is the words other than English i.e., words of Malayalam, Sanskrit etc., are given in italics. Not only the meanings of such words but also the pronunciations are very difficult to give in English. Hence, in order to enable the readers to pronounce such words correctly and to know their meanings, one GLOSSARY has been appended in this edition, by giving each words in Sanskrit letters also.
Since the original text does not contain any heading to chapters, no heading is given for the chapters. But, for the sake of convenience to the readers, the subjects dealt with in each chapters are shown clearly in the CONTENTS.
Much care has been taken to avoid mistakes. Even then, due to want of experience, there may occur some mistakes. Readers are requested to tolerate such mistakes if any and give their suggestions so that such mistakes may be got corrected in the next edition.
We are happy to publish this Holy Book as it will enable the readers to understand the spiritual concepts clearly without any doubt. It will also be helpful to the Seekers of Truth to follow the Correct Path to attain Self Realization i.e., Supreme Enlightenment.
